The Big Island: Photos

Tek & Dusty on the Big Island

Well, we planned this trip originally because I was supposed to run in a race in Hilo... while I didn't end up running in the race, we had a great time visiting friends on the Big Island!! We started the weekend meeting up with Tek, Chappy, Brian, Tim and their wives for a birthday celebration. We even caught a fun ska band playing at a local bar.

The rest of the weekend was spent checking out the island. We saw Banyons, Tim's factory where he's been busy shaping Pure Life surfboards, the Four Seasons (where Tek works), and other spots on the Kona side.

Thanks, Tek, for letting us stay at your place. You are a great host!

Lahaina Pali Trail Hike

A View from the Lahaina Pali Trail

Sato and I set foot to hike the Lahaina Pali Trail. Almost 200 years ago this trail was one of the main roads on Maui. And the views are awesome. It was a hot day, so we didn't make the very top... but we still got some great shots of our neighboring islands Lanai and Kahoolawe.

It was fun hiking with Sato. On the way down, he would hike on ahead and find various shaded areas to stop and wait for me. He came across some other hikers at the shaded spots that were taking water breaks. So once again, I met some pretty neat people through Sato.

Well, I have added some pics from our hike. Hope you enjoy!
