Congrats, Carrie & Randy!

Congratulations on your engagement, Carrie & Randy!!!! Our first friends to get engaged while visiting us in Maui! Too exciting. We are so happy for you and hope your wedding planning is as beautiful of an experience as your engagement in Maui.

Carrie & Randy enjoyed a very nice stay in Hawai'i that began on the North Shore of Oahu. After a few days there, they joined us in South Maui, and then ended their stay in the beautiful rainforests of Hana in East Maui, where Randy proposed to Carrie. You name it, they did! From a luau to whale watching to snorkling... we think Randy missed his calling as a Maui tour guide!
AND you won't want to miss the great photographs they took along the way. Carrie is a great caption writer, you will feel like you are experiencing their trip first hand. To check out their photos, go to:

Carrie & Randy, we really enjoyed visiting with you both. And look forward to hearing updates on your wedding!!!

Kekaulike Paddling

Through out the years in Hawai'i, outrigger canoes have served many purposes. The most popular use today is for sports and recreation. In fact, all the high schools have canoe paddling teams that compete against one another.

Marisa & I went to check out my high school's team today as they competed against the other schools on the island. The Na Ali'i made us proud winning the competition. Go King Kekaulike!!

JAWS

The most elite big wave surfers come from around the world to tackle the biggest, meanest, sickest, most radical and most perfect wave on the planet: JAWS! Located on the North Shore of Maui, Jaws is known as the Most Perfect Big Wave Surf Spot. With the right conditions, the waves that come through here are like moving avalanches. Jet skis are needed to tow surfers into this spot, as the wave is simple too big to paddle into by yourself.
Today we heard it was breaking and wanted to see it in action for ourselves. While it wasn't an epic Jaws day... it was still pretty darn impressive! Hopefully we get to catch it in full action one of these days!!!!!
